Desw1nd's Tricks and Tips

So you want to make your life easier...?

Before you start trying to solo missions or go for high tier loot, I suggest you grind some lower tier missions until you get good at dodging and other game mechanics.

General Tips

Knowledge is Power (Usually)

Get to know the missions you will encounter. A good way is to keep checking the chat (Bottom Left Corner of your screen) to see what missions are being run/hosted by more experienced players.

Don't Get Hit (Or Try Not To)

Practise dodging the mobs and get used to their movement patterns. Running a mission until you can do it casually is good practise for increasing proficiency. For Example, The Hopper Queen The Fire Forest Midboss is good for practising dodging since it shoots many projectiles, same with the Midboss in Frozen Blight.

Check your Dps (Damage per Second)

Check your damage on the training dummy on Eschaton Station (The Lobby) and get to know the different modifiers This ensures you know what you are capable of killing by yourself so you can beat missions more efficiently.

Study the Missions (And Enemies you will Encounter)

*This is very important* Memorise enemy movement and attack patterns so you can dodge better. It also helps to learn which mobs have more hp than others and which drop chests so you can time movements better. You can learn more about zones and enemies here

Learn to Aim (Tilt Attacks)

Like other platforming games, Starbreak has a game mechanic allowing the player to essentially di (directional input) or “aim” attacks. It is simple to do this, just press a movement key while attacking and the attack will go in the chosen direction. You can also tilt your secondary and special attacks so get used to the different directions they go.

The Spacebar (Jumping)

This might be really obvious for some of you but I know some others out there don't know this.
THE SPACEBAR IS PRESSURE SENSITIVE, PRESS LONGER TO JUMP MORE/PRESS QUICKER TO JUMP LESS

Class Tricks and Tips

Each class has its own individual stats and items it can use. Choose the one that gives you the most enjoyment or utility and keep playing to get better!

Wildfire

The Wildfire is the default starting class and relies on gunpower to quickly kill enemies often clearing clumps of enemies using different methods.

You CAN Move while Shooting!!!

To move while shooting on a wildfire, just jump while holding your movement keys. (Usually arrow keys but some may use WASD) This is essential for playing as a wildfire since letting your guard down for a single frame might be your downfall.

Blast Techniques

As a wildfire, your special that is unique to your class is called a Blast
This pushes your character to the opposite direction as well as shooting aoe (Area of Effect) damage to enemies that come into contact with it. You can use this to move faster by shooting it in the opposite direction while you run. This takes practise but is definitely worth it. As well, your blast can also function as a damage dealing device in some circumstances since it is spammable if you angle it right. For example, a scattered blast can do a scary amount of damage if used by an experienced wildfire.
