Current Servers on Starbreak

  • USWest [Active] – Most popular server, this server can cause tons of lag and disconnects when playing if you do NOT live in the US (specifically, in Western States such as California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, etc).
  • USEast [Discontinued] – This server is bearable for players living/residing in Asia. However, due to low popularity, it has been taken down.
  • EUCentral [Active] – Popular for people who want to play with people, but not too much. This server is best for those living/residing in Europe, specifically Central.

MAJOR SOLUTION: Contact Crunchy Support

This will teach you how to send appropriate information to Crunchy Games Support.

Disclaimer: I am NOT a Crunchy Games Representatives/Administrator/Worker. I only know this from the fact that Crunchy Games ALWAYS asks me for the information. Please don’t kill me Nirolo!

CONTACT/SUBJECT INFO

Crunchy Support Email: support@crunchy.com

Describe, in detail, what your problem is, whether it is a glitch or a bug, or simply something looks wrong. Make sure to provide any screenshots if possible. Possible reply time is between 1 DAY to 1 WEEK (depending on when you send it).

List your computer specifications here:

OPERATING SYSTEM

  • Operating System being used
  • Processor
  • CPU/RAM Information
  • System Type (32/64-bit OS)
  • Computer Manufacturer
  • Platform You Play On (Browser/Steam)

NOTE: This can be found by right-clicking “This PC/My Computer” and clicking “Properties”.

BROWSER (If applicable)

  • Browser Name
  • Version

Something Else to Consider: Set your browser/Steam to highest priority.

A higher priority on an app means your computer will try to focus mainly on that one app.

STEP 1: Open Task Manager. How? Go to the taskbar (bottom of screen where your open apps are) and right-click it! That's where it is!

STEP 2: Find your browser on the list of processes and right-click it. Then click on “Go to details.”

STEP 3: Now you are at details, and your browser is highlighted. Good! Right-click the highlighted portion, hover over “Set Priority,” and click “High.”

Done

Getting a Warning: Canvas2D support is deprecated and will stop working soon!

Ever seen Starbreak with wacky graphics and a warning that Canvas2D is about to die? A few solutions are here! Click here to see original post about this problem and why I made this.

Solution 1

Activating WebGL in your browser.

Google Chrome

STEP 1: Enable Hardware Acceleration.

STEP 1.1: Go to chrome://settings OR open settings for Google Chrome.

STEP 1.2: Scroll down. And click “Show advanced settings…”

STEP 1.3: Find the category “System,” then make sure “Use hardware acceleration when available” is checked (if not, check it and relaunch Chrome for it to take any effect).

STEP 2: Enable WebGL

STEP 2.1: Go to chrome://flags

STEP 2.2: Make sure “Disable WebGL” is NOT checked (once again, if you remove the check, relaunch Chrome for the changes to take effect).

STEP 3: Inspect WebGL Status

STEP 3.1: Go to chrome://gpu

STEP 3.2: See if WebGL is functioning properly or not.

STEP 4 (OPTIONAL): Test WebGL.

STEP 4.1: Go to here.

STEP 4.2: Do you see a cube spinning? If yes, WebGL is on and working. If no, you need to enable WebGL (If you already did the steps above, override the blacklisted drivers are the best solution).

Do remember that if your graphics card is blacklisted, you can override it. This is not recommended as it could lead to future problems.

Certain graphics cards and drivers are blacklisted by some browsers, because they are known to contain serious bugs or cause crashes. In very severe cases, these can even cause the entire computer to freeze! For example, this [issue] (https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=134015) causes certain Mac computers to freeze and require restarting. Many browsers have an option to override the blacklist (ie: attempt to use the blacklisted features, despite the risks). This is not recommended! You should only override the blacklist if you understand and accept the risks.

For any problems, refer to Google Chrome Support: WebGL and 3D Graphics Support

Please refer to this SuperUser Q&A for more info.

Mozilla Firefox and Safari

Once again, please refer to this SuperUser Q&A for more info.

REMEMBER

If you are using Windows Vista or older OS, you will most likely not be able to activate WebGL.

Wacky/Weird Graphics!

Sometimes, when you play, you encounter weird graphics and whatsoever.

Not all WebGL functionality may be supported, and content may not run as expected.

Even though you have WebGL on, sometimes the content may not show up correctly, which is probably your problem.

Solution 1

If you haven’t already, consider switching to Google Chrome. If that doesn’t work, click here to learn more about why the graphics on Chrome isn’t showing up properly.

Solution 2

Update your graphics driver.

Refer to this guide for more information. You don’t need Firefox to use this guide!

I Can’t Load the Game!

Ever wanted to play Starbreak and “The site cannot be reached” or “Connection Interrupted” pops up instead? I face this issue literally everyday (being in a location and all), and I have tried many ways to access the site. Here are some solutions.

Solution 1

Wait

How do you do it?

You wait.

Solution 2

I don’t like waiting! Well, you could try this.

Sometimes, the firewall blocks access to game. Let’s try a few tests to determine what the problem can be.

TEST 1: Try to access Google (https://www.google.com) on your default browser.

  • If it can load, proceed to the next step.
  • If it cannot load, then a firewall/antivirus may be blocking your browser. Try another browser (if you have one), and redo the first test. If you DON’T have another browser, try Google Chrome. If Google Chrome is the ONLY browser you have, and it is blocked, proceed to the next step.

TEST 2: Try to access a gaming website (http://www.armorgames.com) on your working browser.

  • If it can work, proceed to the next step.
  • If itcannot load, the firewall/antivirus may be blocking specific websites relating to a certain category, such as “Gaming.”

TEST 3: Ensure your connection to the internet is not censored. Censorship is… >…the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security

  • If it is censored, you have a problem. Are you using a school network, work network, or just an everyday network (such as home)?

If you answered School Network, are you using Google Chrome as your default browser?

  • If no, use Google Chrome. If you are not using Google Chrome, try some of the steps wayyy down.
  • If yes, go to the Chrome Web Store. Is it blocked?
  • If no, on the Chrome Web Store, search up Leaf Browser Alpha, Ultimate Browser, Freedom Browser or Polarity Search. These are sub-browsers that work like a normal browser, but are not given restrictions like Google Chrome.
  • If yes, try another browser.

-If no, do you have Mozilla Firefox?

-If yes, try to go to Mozilla Add-ons. Can you access it?

  • If yes, try to look up one of the browsers above. If they are not present, you may have to switch to Chrome.

-If no, don’t use Mozilla Firefox.

-Try some other browsers (Opera, etc) and try looking for its addon site and try to get the browsers listed above.

If you answered Work Network, are you an administrator? - If yes, you should be able to access Starbreak. If no, ask your employer. If you are the boss, contact your ISP.

  • If no, you have two options: Bypass, or ask (very, very nicely) your employer.

-BYPASS: Use the steps above for “School Network.”

-ASK: Try to flatter your employer, be your employer’s “pet,” beg, etc.

If you answered Everyday Network, where do you live?

-If you live in a heavily censored place, you may need to wait. For example, in China, I have to wait a few hours (now you know what the location is).

-If you live in a lightly/barely censored place (USA), go to your router’s login page, login and see whether parental controls are on. If it is on, turn it off (you may need a password). If it is off, then try to see what sites are blocked (should be a separate setting in “Advanced”). If there is nothing, it is possible (but highly unlikely) you were IP banned. Contact your ISP to change your IP, OR you can renew lease (access your router, go to advanced settings; or use your device, go to WiFi, and press Renew Lease). Also, contact your ISP to see why the site is changed.

  • If your network is NOT censored, one of the following may be affecting the browser: Firewall, Anti-Virus, A virus controlling your computer, Router, MAYBE IP banned/blocked from the site, etc.
  • Once again, try to contact your ISP. If you don’t want to, try some of the steps above.

One more thing you can try – Flushing the DNS

STEP 1: Find command prompt (cmd.exe) and run it as an administrator.

STEP 2: Type in the following command: ipconfig /flushdns

That’s it.

Try to access Starbreak. Best of luck.

My Game FPS is in Single-Digits!

Solution: Switch to Google Chrome

Google Chrome is the preferred browser for playing Starbreak. If this does not work, you may consider installing Steam, and playing Starbreak. It has a great reputation for very good gameplay and barely any disconnects/lag*.

  • * Assuming you have a decent connection.

Still not working? Try the steps below for “My Game FPS is Often Unstable/Inconsistent.

My Game FPS is Often Unstable/Inconsistent

This may have something to do with the Crunchy servers, but not always. There are several solutions you can try.

Solution 1

Use Disk Defragment to Optimize your Computer.

STEP 1: Search up “Run” on your computer. If you have Windows 10, use Cortana and type in “dfrgui.exe.”

STEP 2: Type in dfrgui.exe in Run. If you use Windows 10, ignore this.

STEP 3: Find C: and Analyze first.

STEP 4: If there are problems, select Optimize. If there are no problems, skip this step.

STEP 5 (OPTIONAL): Restart your computer for it to refresh.

Solution 2

Use Disk Cleanup to cleanup your computer.

STEP 1: Search up “Run” on your computer. If you have Windows 10, use Cortana and type in “cleanmgr.exe.”

STEP 2: If prompted to ask which Hard Drive to choose from, select C:. If not, ignore and proceed to next step.

STEP 3: Select all options and click “Cleanup.”

STEP 4 (OPTIONAL): Restart your computer for it to refresh.

Solution 3

Delete Cached Data and Images.

STEP 1: Open your browser. In this case, I will use Google Chrome.

STEP 2: Type chrome://history. You should arrive at your previous browsing place.

STEP 3: Click “Clear browsing data…” and select the following: Cookies and other site and plugin data and Cached images and files. Make sure you obliterate all data from the beginning of time.

STEP 4: Click “Clear browsing data” and wait. Once it is done, try relaunching Starbreak.

Solution 4

Sometimes, if you set your resolution to very high, your system cannot handle it.

I've noticed if you turn up the resolution on a system that can't handle it, it appears similar to network issues.

Thanks to y5 for her contribution!

This also may apply to lower FPS, for various reasons, like maybe your processor cannot handle such high resolutions, or simply put, your system isn’t used to it. So, how do we fix this problem?

IF YOU ARE USING WINDOWS 8/10:

STEP 1: Right-click on your desktop. You should not see a drop-down menu.

STEP 2: Now, click on “Display settings.” The settings app should open.

STEP 3: Scroll down until you see “Advanced display settings.” Click on that.

STEP 4: Now, you should see a few options. Under “Resolutions,” you should see your current resolution. Click on it. You will now see a list of possible resolutions.

STEP 5: Look for the recommended resolution. Click on that, and click “Apply.” Your resolution will change, and you may be prompted to sign out.

IF YOU ARE USING WINDOWS 7:

STEP 1: Go to Control Panel. If you cannot find it, go to Start. It should be on the right-side of the start menu.

STEP 2: Find “Appearance and Personalization” or search “Display” on the search bar.

STEP 3: Find “Display” and click on it.

STEP 4: You should see the current resolution. Change the resolution to its recommended resolution, and click “Apply.”

FINAL STEPS!!!!

STEP 1: Go to your browser.

STEP 2: Go to Starbreak.

STEP 3: Make sure your browser is viewing the game as 100% and not zoomed in. If it is at 100%, skip this step.

STEP 4: Go to options, click on graphics, and see your current resolution. Now, set your resolution to its original, or its lowest.

Solution 4

Change servers.

Change your server to the one closest to you. If you live in Nevada, use USWest (example).

Done!

You should now be done! Common problems:

I am using the recommended resolution! It’s still laggy!

Change your resolution lower. If you cannot, try to do the above solutions.

I want to use the highest resolutions! I saw many people do it!!!

They have gaming computers (devices designed for games), or very good computer (Intel i7 Core, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB Hard Drive, etc). A normal computer will not be able to handle it.

My Game often Freezes/Fast-Forwards Constantly

This also can have something to do with the Crunchy servers, but not always. This could be caused by a network issue, or a number of applications using the network at the same time. It could also be from other people using the same WiFi. Think about it. As an example, if your parents are watching Youtube, and your siblings are playing video games on the internet, your gaming experience maybe slow, because the network has to accumulate all of the device's needs. Furthermore, as an example, if you are list
